Netflix original ‘OITNB’ season 2 notched 55,668 illegal downloaders in first two days of release

If piracy is a gauge of popularity, Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” second season is not as big a hit as “House of Cards” — and neither series holds a candle to HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” the world’s most-pirated TV show.

The way you watch Netflix is about to change (New York Post)

Watching “House of Cards” and other streamed programs may be about to change.

“House of Cadres” vs “House of Cards”, Pékin confronté au succès des séries américaines (L’Yonne)

– Melinda Sue Gordon/Sony Pictures Television/ Netflix. All Rights Reserved.

Just days before the 2012 election, The Economist published “The Woes of Netflix: Looks Bleak,” a candid assessment of the Internet streaming media company’s announcement of an 88 percent drop in its third quarter profit. “American subscriptions have slowed, and its international push has been wobbly,” the magazine noted, including a quote from an industry analyst who observed that… [Read more on The Huffington Post]

What’s Driving Netflix’s Growth? (Bloomberg)

Yesterday, Netflix unveiled its financial report.

QUESTION: What are investors expecting out of this report?

ANSWER: If they can keep adding users around the globe, then all of the naysayers go away. It is about subscribers and how many people are using Netflix. The company has 36 million people in the US, about 12.5 billion overseas at the end of this quarter — 12.5 million overseas at the end of this quarter. This is in line with — with what is expected.

QUESTION: They have to create compelling original content to keep subscribers coming in. How much more efficiently are they doing this than let’s say, the traditional pay cable TV networks?

ANSWER: This is costly for them, and they have billions of dollars they have had to spend on movies and tv and then doing their own shows like “House of Cards,” they don’t get this easy and they have higher rates than many traditional players. But if they can find new ways to make money and have new subscribers, going to the markets overseas and toilet the pricing plan and maybe partner with new players, bloomberg reported vodaphone — one thought, playing with the pricing…
